What is Project Cenote?

Phase one of Project Cenote (pronounced suh-noh-tee) aims to deliver a free resource discovery service that's rich, engaging and participative for library users.

Our vision is to make library data visible in many contexts, inside and outside of the library, making the data much more accessible and visible to a wider audience - benefiting current and potential users of library services wherever they are.

Hundreds of libraries across the UK and Ireland have already shared their library holdings with the Talis Platform, upon which cenote is built - is your library visible?

How does Project Cenote relate to the Talis Platform?

Project Cenote offers an interface entirely built upon the underlying infrastructure and Web Services of the Talis Platform.

Libraries, library system vendors and other third parties are also actively engaged in building upon the Talis Platform to enhance existing applications, develop niche solutions or even build their own Cenote.

What is the Talis Platform?

The Talis Platform is an open and extensible Web 2.0 platform enabling stakeholders to participate in a revolutionary shared architecture for creating, locating and delivering relevant content over the Web.

The Talis Platform assists by lowering barriers to sharing, locating and working with information from and about libraries, regardless of the vendor upon whom they choose to depend for their LMS and OPAC.

Data is shared via the Talis Platform under the Talis Community Licence which is intended to guarantee your freedom to use, share and modify data and to preserve the availability and accessibility of such data for the wider community.
